A Rain-Kissed Cape Wedding | Ewert & Bonita
Bonita and Ewert’s wedding at Klipheuwel Farm in the Hex River Valley felt like coming home for us. We’ve photographed many weddings at Klipheuwel over the years, and it remains one of our favourite Western Cape wedding venues, narrow valleys, mountain backdrops and that unmistakable farm stillness. Timo and I always camp on the venue when we shoot there, waking to soft mountain air over the vineyards and that quiet anticipation before a wedding day begins. This celebration brought a little evening rain, something we’ve come to welcome at Hex River weddings, adding depth, drama and a beautiful mood to the landscape. For their couple portraits, we made our way up into the valley where Simon, the cattle herder had brought in Nguni cattle especially for the shoot, an unforgettable scene under layered skies. It was one of those honest, grounded farm weddings where the setting becomes part of the story, and Bonita and Ewert simply fit into it so naturally.
