My purpose in life is to share the quiet miracle of being alive, to draw others closer to their truest selves through the art of storytelling, shaped by light, framed by my lens, and born in the wild embrace of nature.

Okay, enough of the philosophical stuff. I’m a curious soul with a love for nature and creativity in all its forms. I love people, though I often find myself overwhelmed by society. More than anything, I’m a husband and a dad.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me in my workshop, in the garden, in a tent, or bobbing on a surfboard somewhere. My wife and daughter are my favorite people. Crows are my favorite animals, and green is my favorite colour. I have a deep fondness for sleeping in wild places. I photographed my first wedding, a small elopement, at the age of thirteen and was paid fifty rand and two rolls of film. Since then I have photographed hundreds of weddings, and to this day it’s a part of my photography that I particularly enjoy.

Wow, you’re still reading… so here’s a bit more about me. I grew up in East London, South Africa, where nature had a way with me from a young age. I always knew I wanted to pursue something that would allow me to be outside. After school, I earned my bachelor’s degree in photography at TUT in Pretoria.

In 2010, I made headlines when I walked the entire length of the South African coastline with my Border Collie, Zeta. The 3200 km journey took us ten months to complete. It changed my life, and since then, I’ve done a few things that people might call crazy, odd, or amazing.

Lauren, my wife, has been stealing my blanket since 2011. We lived in South Korea for two years while teaching English and then went on another very long walk together. This time, we walked from the tip of Africa to the top of Namibia, an epic 3200 km journey through some of the most desolate landscapes on earth.

Our most beautiful adventure by far has been raising our daughter in the beautiful town of Hermanus, South Africa.
